Here's some quick questions we went over as a class today!

What is a satellite?
Satellites are celestial bodies that are in orbit around a planet or another body, and they can either be artificial or natural. Examples of satellites are the moon orbiting planet earth, an earth-orbiting spacecraft, or even weather satellites.
What is the difference between a meteoroid, a meteor and a meteorite?
A meteor is what we see when we observe "shooting stars", it is in our atmosphere. A meteoroid is what a meteor is before it enters an atmosphere of a planet. A meteorite is what's left over from the meteor once it comes in contact with a planet.
Where does the sun get its energy?
The sun's energy comes from nuclear conversion of hydrogen to helium. This energy slowly works it way to the surface where it radiates into space.
What is a comet? A coma?
A comet is a block of ice and debris which orbits the sun... It can fall into any of the planets. A coma, however, is created when a comet comes near the sun. The sun's heat vaporizes the comet's icy material into a cloud of gaseous material (coma).
What is a white dwarf?
A white dwarf is a star that has burned up all of it's hydrogen to make fuel. It's very dense (think of the density of the sun), but it is around the size of earth. It has a low luminosity, high surface temperature, small size and great density. Our sun will eventually become a white dwarf.
